Pickle Me This

December 21, 2007

Honestly

I have decided to start using “figuratively” in a literal sense.

“No, seriously, I was figuratively frozen on the spot.” Or, “I figuratively died.” “He really is figuratively eighteen feet tall.”

It just seems more honest.

  1. Soojin says:

I’ve long felt that ‘literally’ is the most oft abused word around. People literally don’t know how to use the word.

Local news broadcast weather reporter: “It’s literally raining cats and dogs out here.”

I fully endorse your movement and plan on adopting it myself. I will figuratively do it all the time.
