Books wrote our life story
“Books wrote our life story, and as they accumulated on our shelves (and on our windowsills, and underneath our sofa, and on top of the refrigerator), they became chapters in it themselves. How could it be otherwise?”– Anne Fadiman, Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader
Kerry!! Are you reading Ex Libris?!
So glad you’re liking Fadiman!! One of my favorite essays is when she and her husband merge their bookshelves.
Annnnd it’s on hold at the library! That quote was enough to sell me.
Oh, it was so so good. I wish I could be reading this book for the first time for the rest of my life.
