The best things
The best things I’ve found online of late are as follows: a link to a fabulous radio interview with Lois Lowry. Spitzer through the prism of fiction (via Kate). Rona Maynard’s considered response to The Sexual Paradox. The Orange Prize longlist. Smut of my youth: My Sweet Audrina reread. Anne Enright profiled.
Have you ever checked out Sexual Fables (www.sexualfables.com)? It’s a wickedly smart and funny “alternative history of western arts and culture,” with writerly essays about Adam and Eve, Lady Godiva, Mary Magdalene, etc. My only quibble with this site is that it’s so bookishly well written, it’s hard to skim.
Oh no! I read Fine Lines every week, and missed it last week. I missed discussing My Sweet Audrina! Noooooo!
My Sweet Audrina? Only the best V.C. Andrews book ever! (And sadly, I have read far too many of her books in my time.)
I nearly bought two huge box sets of Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary yesterday. I ran out of the bookstore before I could spend the $50-odd dollars.
