Yo!
The number one surprising development of my Christmas Holidays was that I became obsessed with Rocky Balboa. I certainly didn’t see it coming. (Though I’ve never seen one, I’ve always struggled with the Rocky films, for as a child I confused Rocky with Rambo and didn’t understand how one character could be so multi-dimensional.) But on the day before Christmas Eve, we caught Rocky on TV Ontario (commercial free! how novel) and though I was supposed to be reading a book while my husband watched it, I soon put the book down and was enthralled. I loved it. I don’t really know why. I’ve always had a thing for working class Italian men with big dreams, hearts of gold and problems expressing themselves, however. In accordance then, I think I am soon going to rent Saturday Night Fever.
I love Rocky. Rocky I and II are brillo and then Russ gave me very sage advice not to watch any of the other sequels. The exception being the new Rocky Balboa movie, which I have not yet seen but is apparently vair good.
My advice, sage or otherwise: skip Saturday Night Fever and rent Rambo. Rambo First Blood is a really good movie. A film. It made me cry. I walked out of Saturday Night Fever.
Also: TVO rules.
I am really dubious about Rambo. Saturday Night Fever, however, was one my favourite movies for years and years, and though it’s been a while, it might still stand up for me. I will go for Rocky 2 at some point though. I completely fancy Talia Shire.
give Rambo a try. it truly is a good movie. it didn’t turn into a shoot-em-up machine gun party until the sequels (which i have not seen).
i just found Travolta’s character in SNF to be so…awful. to be fair, i never did see the end of it.
Okay we Faux-Voed the first three movies and did the same thing. You know what I found, Rocky in the first film, actually kind of sexy. He’s all fit and stuff but not boffo like all the gym boys these days.
Shocked at myself I was, SHOCKED.
No, I admit it. I was attracted to Rocky. Italian stallion indeed.
