Harriet's room

It’s an exciting time in any parent’s life when your child moves out of her crib onto the futon that was once your living room couch. It’s like the circle of life for the not-so-upwardly mobile. But it’s gone off without a hitch and, like everything ever in the history of Harriet, was a much bigger deal for us that it was for her. She likes the new bed because she can turn somersaults on it, and is fond of the comforter she received for Christmas from one of her grandmothers. From the other, she received custom bunting spelling out her name (and you can catch a glimpse of it in the first photo). All these new things being the best excuse for a bedroom reorganization, and I’m very happy with the result.

You can click here for a glimpse of how Harriet’s library began, and from the picture on the right, you can tell that we’ve come a long way. And aren’t kids books impossible to get rid of? I am pretty good at pruning my own collection, but with Harriet’s books, every one seems so essential.

Beautiful, cheery, and the best part…full of books! Yes, children’s books do seem impossible to get rid of. Even for those of us without actual children 😉

Her room is adorable! I love the bright colors. And yes, I also find it impossible to get rid of children’s books. Some of ours are so tattered and worn after going through 2 kids, but they still love them.

Love looking into Harriet (the spy’s) lovely bedroom..a room with bright colors and many books! An ideal (b)reading ground (spelling error intended) for a passionate life long reader and potential writer to spend her early years! My son’s room was and still is (at 10) a bright colored oasis (now orange!) with wall to wall bookshelves…I often find myself curling up on his bed reading some of my childhood favourites! And we also did the futon thing…in fact, our son went from our bed right into a futon! he hated sleeping in a crib so we got rid of it…you do what works best. Because he was a baby who would never get up out of bed without calling out to us first-this worked perfectly. He slept with us for about year-then went right into that futon until he was 7 and moved onto his “big boy” bed. I’m sure Harriet will love it!
