The great Canadian cottage novel

On the (near) eve of this long weekend, check out my new post at Canadian Bookshelf, and help us answer the question: does the great Canadian cottage novel have yet to be written?

(The link takes you to your last post.)

    1. Kerry says:

      Fixed! Thank you.

  2. Kate says:

It’s not all cottage, but Mordecai Richler’s “Joshua Then and Now” would be on my list.

  3. theresa says:

I’d recommend David MacFarland’s Summer Gone for its bittersweet evocation of the languid and dangerous days of summer.

  4. Alex says:

I see you mentioned “A Handful of Time” in your review. I loved that book!

I was also going to mention “My American Cousin,” which does not take place at a cottage per se, but has that cottagy feel. The other drawback is it’s a movie, not a book. oops!

    1. Kerry says:

I loved A Handful of Time too– Kit Pearson was a favourite of mine back in the Scholastic Book Order days. And yes to My American Cousin! It should be a book…

  5. Em says:

I can’t see your post: the link takes me to a home page indicating that the site will be launch on the 7th of June… Should I just be patient?

    1. Kerry says:

Yes, indeed, patience is required! Our pre-launch blog has come down as we await the real thing. But it will be back up when the site launches on Tuesday (along with so much more!).
